Clusel-Roch, Syrah "Champon" Côte-Rôtie, Northern Rhône, France 2018

100% Syrah from 30-60 year old vines in the lieu-dit "Champon".

Fine and elegant, but with a strong tannic presence. Complex nose of black fruits, spices, and violet.

The vines are cultivated as naturally as possible. The work is mainly manual, without chemical fertilizers or insecticides, but instead using composted manure, treated very moderately. Harvest is done by hand, with careful sorting carried out in the vineyard by the pickers. Fermentation is done with indigenous yeasts.

This wine ages for two years in oak barrels (228L), aged from 0 to 12 years. 20% to 25% is new French oak.
