The appellation of Vosne-Romanée is a village appellation in the Côte de Nuits, produced from the communes of Vosne-Romanée and Flagey-Échezeaux. Producing only red wines from the pinot noir grape varietal, the surface area of the Vosne-Romanée appellation is: 96,96 Hectares.
A bright red wine, ranging from ruby red to dark purple and often very deep in color. With a fiery red color sometimes garnet it approaches dark purple. The bouquet is often described as having ripe fruit with a touch of spice, accompanied by notes of strawberry, raspberry and cassis. These complex aromas often develop with age into notes of cherry brandy, leather and fur, and are reminiscent of a hunting satchel. On the palate the wine is velvety and distinct and we find the affluence pinot noir from this area has to offer. A wine worthy of aging, balanced tannins, richness and structure with a subtle attack. Sometime austere in its youth, its structure and roundness develop in bottle. Often full bodied and voluptuous on first glance. “ Burgundy has done nothing better with this little corner where she meets her enchantments” written by Gaston Roupnet a burgundian writer. This appellation is located on both sides of Grands Cru vineyards, on top of the hill or foothills and sometimes is located at the same altitude. The soil is composed of mixed limestone and clay marl of varying depths from 10 centimeters to 1 meter. Eastern exposition.
