Dr Bürklin-Wolf, Riesling Trocken, Pfalz, Germany 2022
Dr Bürklin-Wolf, Riesling Trocken, Pfalz, Germany 2022
100% Riesling from sites in Wachenheim, Deidesheim and Ruppertsberg
Burklin-Wolf's 2021 Riesling Trocken is clear and aromatic on the nose and reveals an elegant and cool bouquet of ripe and lush tropical fruits. Round, refined and elegant on the palate, this is a vivacious, fresh and lemon-scented dry Riesling with good intensity and a persistent finish. Seriously structured, this wine can be served with many dishes. The perfect introduction to dry Pfalz Riesling.
The wine undergoes temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Subsequent expansion in stainless steel and in a Doppelstück wooden barrel.
The Bürklin-Wolf estate was one of the “Three Bs of the Pfalz”: historically, Basserman-Jordan, von Buhl, and Bürklin-Wolf were the region's most important estates. Today, Dr. Bürklin-Wolf is one of the finest estates in all of Germany, a certified organic, biodynamic, and family-owned winery with a 400-year history. Its wines are masterful, terroir-driven wines of the highest echelon. This high praise is not only reserved for the Grand Cru wines. Critic David Schildknecht has remarked that the Estate Riesling Trocken from this domain “is often the very best wine of its type in Germany, each vintage”.
The Pfalz region of southern Germany is warmer than the Mosel and ripens a wider variety of varietals. Its wines tend to be fuller in weight and intensity than most German wine. It is planted with Riesling, Muller Thurgau and increasing amounts of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
