Furmint & Hun, Tokaji Furmint, Tokaj, Hungary 2020
An exciting new dry Furmint created by the legendary Szepsy family. Fresh and aromatic with a flavorful palate that shows good structure, acidity with a long mineral finish.
The Hun label was created by Istvan Szepsy Jr and the grapes were grown in the Hasznos, Bohomáj, Úrágya, Urbán and Nyulas crus. Fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks with partial malolactic fermentation.
The Szepsy family has been producing Tokaj wines since the 1500s, with the aim of producing the best possible grapes without compromise. The estate consists of 50 hectares of vines, which are on average forty years old, planted on steep slopes at high altitude on a rocky volcanic soil considered to have the single, most complex soil composition.
Szepsy’s family history is closely linked to that of Tokaj Aszú wine production: in 1631, Szepsy Laczkó Máté was the first man to ever write down how to make Tokaji Aszú. Eighteen generations later, now under the leadership of István Szepsy, the same standards remain and younger generations honor the family tradition of constant pursuit of perfection
