55% Cabernet Franc, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon

The Serena Rubra is rich and energizing. It has a densely perfumed nose of blackberry jam, cassis and rose. The palate is concentrated with bing cherries, black pepper and cherry cordial. Its structure is compact and energizing. This wine has great aging potential. Decantation recommended.

Made from free run juice only. Spontaneously fermented with native yeasts, and aged for 12 months in new and second-use 500 L Hungarian oak barrels. Unfiltered and unfined. Certified organic.

This blend is from Malatinszky's celebrated organic wine estate in Villány. Villány is Hungary's southernmost wine region, where the sub-mediterranean climate can lend itself to ripe, full-bodied reds in dry vintages (like 2012).
