Sandlands, Zinfandel, Lodi, California 2021

The Sandlands Zinfandel has notes of black tea, violets and red cherry, with long, silky tannins. This is a rich and voluptuous wine. 100% aged in used (neutral) French oak barrels.

The fruit for this wine comes from the Kirschenmann Vineyard, on the east side of Lodi's Mokelumne River AVA. The vineyards were planted in 1915 in silica-rich, white sandy soils.

Sandlands is the personal project of Tegan Passalacqua of Turley Vineyards. The line-up encompasses the forgotten classic California varieties, primarily grown in decomposed granite (sand), from regions and vineyards that have been farmed for many generations but have remained the outliers of California viticulture.
